Adele B Cole Tribute

Adele was born June 21, 1916 in Lakeview, Texas to D. L. and Mary Britt. She was a graduate of Amherst High School in 1933 and Draughn's Business College 1935.

Adele was an accomplished seamstress and worked at a boutique in Amarillo.

She was a Chief Clerk in the Army Hospital at Fort Jackson, SC, VA Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and VA Hospital in Big Spring.
Adele was a civilian employee as a chief clerk for the Joint American Military Mission for Aid to Turkey (Ankara, Turkey). She also was employed as a Field Manager for the Social Security Office in Farmington, NM and retired as Manager of the Social Security Office in Carlsbad, NM.

Following retirement she became a real estate agent until pursuing her passion to travel the world. Her adventures included trips through Europe, Africa, Morocco, China, India, Australia, Japan, Russia, Central America, Panama Canal, Alaska, and Mexico.

Adele moved to Lubbock, 2005 from Carlsbad, NM, where she lived for 27 years. Adele’s loving generosity led her to volunteer as a teacher in the Adult Literacy Program and the Altrusa Club.

She was a loyal and devoted aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews. The family cherishes her stories, adventurous spirit, sense of humor, gracious hospitality, and wonderful conversations.

She is survived by her siblings, Bernice Nelson of Victoria, Geneva Haithcock of Carlsbad, NM, Roger Britt and spouse, Ray Lynn of Lubbock, and Betty Harlan of Sudan; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of friends.
