Shot in her school

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Witnesses to a high school shooting in South Florida Wednesday said unrequited love was the motive for one 15-year-old girl to kill her friend and classmate.

Several girls said the alleged killer of fifteen-year-old sophomore Amanda Collete was enraged by Collete's rejection of her affection and killed her.

Police are withholding the name of the alleged shooter because she is a fifteen-year-old minor. However, several students at Dillard High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., said they knew Collete's killer and describe her as a loner who was open about her sexual preference for girls.

Authorities said the alleged shooter was arrested at an area restaurant and that a small caliber gun was recovered at the scene.
