I actually never herd of this case untill yesterday when I was channel surfing. This is really sad. I don't care what your religion, race or sexual orientation is...nobody deserves to die in the hands of another human being. My prayers go out to her loved ones.
I followed this case on Open Court. Even a stranger can see her love and beauty. My heart goes out to Angie and her family and friends. I will keep you guys in my prayers. Justice has been served for Angie, amen.
I have been following this story all week and it has touched my heart. I feel the deepest sorrow for Angie's family and I am sure that she will be greatly missed. I hope that if nothing else, the family can take comfort in knowing that this beautiful woman is finally home with her heavenly Father looking down on them knowing how much she meant to everyone. God be with you all.
I would just like to say that I am very happy with the verdict. My thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family. She seemed like a very loving and fun person. Now she can rest in peace and in a better place. I didn't know about the case until I was flipping through the channels and saw it on tru-tv. It really broke my heart what happened to her. So I continued to watch until today that it ended with the verdict. Her family are in my thoughts and prayers.
my thought and prayers are with you and your family just know this she was love by many and she will never be forgotten because she is one of a kind .. god bless you all stay strong and enjoy the good times you had with her ..know this justice has ben surve and she looking down at her family and saying thank u .....
As a Mother of a gay Son, I have been watching the trial intensely. I live in PA, and I had not heard about this horrible crime until seeing it on CourtTV. I agree that Andrade knew days before that Angie was transgender. He was experimenting with his own sexuality, which confused him ( this was proven by the DNA on the vibrator), this along with his gang activities confused him further. This was was truly a hate crime! But the hatred started deep inside Andrade toward himself. I truly believe this is what caused him to lash out at Angie. If she's dead then she can't tell anyone of his sexual encounter/exploration with her. It's such a shame that Angie had to be this little sexual experiment. Some of experiment with our sexuality at some point in life, we decide who we are, and move on with our lives. Unfortunately Angie was unknowingly experimenting with a madman. She was a beautiful person physically but from what her friends and family has said she was just as beautiful inside. I always warn my son that some people are just not to be trusted...but when one is looking for love, sometimes even the smartest person can be blindsided.
I KNOW ANGIE IS IN A MORE BEAUTIFUL PLACE WITH ACCEPTANCE AND LOVE

Thanks to the state of Colorado for finding Andrade guilty of first degree murder. I have been watching Angie's trial on tru tv. I live in North Carolina and had not heard about her brutal murder until the trial came on.
I feel Andrade knew all along. I think he did something that he could not accept himself and snapped.
I hope and pray that Angie's death will not go in vain and something good will come of it.
Her family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I believe he knew she was Transgender all along - I think he is unsure of his own sexuality and was experimenting and it went further then he wanted or exactly were he wanted it to go and he then decided he did not want to take the chance of anyone finding out and committed a horrific act that has destroyed not only “Angie Zapata’s” family but it has now ended his life in the free world.
I too speculate that the scenario was as Nika stated. There was (intresting) evidence submitted in court pointing to that. All the more important that the jury came to the verdict they did, with less than 2hrs of deliberation. They had the evidence they needed to make the decision without argument and unanimously.
THANK U NIKA!!!!!!!! HE DIDNT WANT THE GANG HE WAS AFFILIATED WITH TO KNOW. HE (ANDRADE) WENT WITH ANGIE TO COURT. WHEN U GO TO COURT THEY CALL U BY UR REAL NAME AND HE (ANDRADE) WAS THERE WHEN THEY CALLED ANGIE BY HER BOY NAME.
I did not know Angie but I did follow the trial. I would have liked to have seen the death penalty for this horrid crime but at least this monster Andrade will not see the outside and breathe free air ever again! Let us all hope that he thinks of this and what he did while en route to his new home!
I cannot imagine the hell a person goes through knowing that inside of them is a person that the world does not see...nor for the most part will not accept.
Through following the trial...I could see that Angie was beautiful..not just on the outside but on the inside too. Judge a person for who they are and what they hold in their heart and mind is what all should accept. Angie was guilty for only being herself...and how absolutely courageous of her to do that.
Mrs. Zapata.
I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the pain that you are feeling. Perhaps the verdict and knowledge that this animal that killed Angie will be caged for the rest of his life may bring some comfort and perhaps a message to others that this sort of behavior WILL NOT be accepted and WILL be prosecuted.
For Angie's siblings.
Your sister is in a better place now..and always know that you supported her through her own trials...that being in "life" itself. You did everything that a loving family could do for their sister.
For all of Angie's family.
Angie did for herself what she wanted to do. She was a beautiful young lady that blossomed like the sweetness of a flower in spring. For the length of time that she lived the way she wanted....for her it was beautiful. Please take some comfort knowing that.
Please know that my heart and prayers are for you all and Angie and that you feel some comfort and peace. I pray that there will be some closure for you. We never get over a loss like this but in time perhaps you can think of Angie with a smile and of the times when she made you laugh....and brought happiness to your lives.
By far one of the saddest stories Ive ever seen. Ive nevr felt the sadness or cried as much as before I saw this story. I hope for the day when people can be who they really are and find the happiness that everyone has a right to experience, without fear of being hurt. Wether you see Her as Justin or Angie, the point still remains the same that she was a person with a spirit, she deserved to be who she felt on the inside, which doesnt always equal what you are born with on the outside. This was a beautiful person who becuase of one man, never had a chance to find peace in life, I pray and hope that her family and her spirit can find peace now. ......R.I.P Angie
First of all my heart and sorrow along with blessings goes out to the family of Angie. I have never meant any of you, but have followed the media and watched the court proceddings. My name is Lynn and I am also apart of the transgendered family, I have so much Trans friends here and each day we make sure we let eachothers know of our presence. We all have stories of running into getting held at gun point, being robbed, getting named called, etc.
Also lost couple of friends to hate crimes, may they rest in peace.
I just want to let the Zapata family know that I know you all lost a beautiful sister, daugther, aunt, and friend but she made a big difference in not only the state of Colorado but Nation wide... Its hard to understand but sometimes it takes a lost to make a big difference...
I may not have known Angie but I know we would have became good friends!
When I seen first seen the trial, I cried and was so mad at the known hearted guy that sat there, looking like he didn't even care. I could only view so much that the show "IN session" can show but I would come back from school and I'd tune in again. I preyed for the Zapata Family... I cried when I heard Monica Zapata story of finding her sister, it was very emotional... I knew from the start of the trial that he was going to get the first degree. Congratulations to the Zapata Family finally Justice have been done. He deserves to rot in prison... Just by hearing the verdict made me smile!
Well, Angie may you rest in peace and understand that you are an angel to everyone not just your family but to the GLBT community.
