Anne Shirley Toth Tribute

Anne Toth (nee Pineo) was an accomplished Astrologer and Kabbalist.

She was the creator and host of a talk radio show the Aquarian Age on 610 CKTB AM in St. Catharines Ontario.  The show featured interviews and information on Astrology, Mediumship, and Spirituality.  Anne guests included authors and lecturers that ranged from Dr Rocco Errico (leading biblical scholar) to Whitley Striber (author of several books on his experiences with aliens). 
Anne loved new and interesting ideas and people - but also loved going home everyday to her house in Point Abino with it's huge pines, lovely vistas and often overgrown garden.

Anne had an infectious laugh,which she bestowed on us often, and a huge heart. She was every bit of her triple Leo self  - determined, loyal, and compassionate - she always had time for people in need. 
If you want to remember her in a 'real' way  - take a moment to make a meal for someone else - or dig deep for change when you pass someone who needs it.
She never failed to.

Anne Toth was beloved mother of Austin Toth (Leah), Kalman Daniel Toth (Jaymie), Elizabeth Toth (Calvin Porter) and Matthew Toth (Emily Muir) .  She was predeceased by her husband  Kalman Laszlo Toth in 1999. She was grandmother to Julianna, Joshua and Eden Belle.
Anne was the last of the 4 sisters - being predeceased by  Patricia Pineo Racey, Evelyn Pineo Cogill and Mary Pineo.
Anne was also predeceased by her mother Anne Marie and her father Austin Alfred Pineo of Niagara Falls Ontario. 
She leaves behind three brothers Reg Pineo of Simcoe, Ontario, David Pineo of Campbell River, BC and Michael Pineo (unknown address) and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the many people in mom's community who prayed, drove, sang, gathered, donated, held a hand, dropped off food, called daily to check on her, provided care for her at home and at Hospice, fixed various things at her house and were really there, really present for her during her long dance with cancer. 
Reg, Cindy, Anita, Judy, Paul, Anthony, Joe, Tammy .....  (and so many others I just can't name at the moment) - your kindness and heartfelt generosity were very much appreciated.

A special thanks to her very best girl friends  -  Belinda, Joy, Tammy, Susan, Miriam, and Sandy.
Their loving gift of the memorial service was a beacon of light and love for us at a very dark time. 
My mother was truly blessed to have such caring and compassionate friends.

A  memorial service for Anne Toth was held
on January 12th, 2008

at Temple Beth Am, 4660 Sheridan Drive,  Williamsville, New York,14221.

A traditional Jewish service and prayers , followed by Eulogies from friends and family, song praise and dance.

I wanted to also thank the lovely caregivers at Buffalo General Hospital . The nurses, nursing aids and Hospice staff who showed great compassion and a commitment to making my mom as comfortable as possible.
Your work did not go unnoticed and I thank you for all you did for her.

Tribute (with wings)


I want this to be a tribute with wings
to speak of my mother not as her son, not at as her protégé Rev. Toth, not as her friend Mattie, but as Mr. eyes the gypsy that observed her.
 
least that’s the way the muses address me - gypsy eyes
the voices in my head
she taught me to tune myself as an instrument
and play love and beauty and light.
to become a medium for poetry.
 
Not like I had a choice really
son of a fisherman and mystic medicine woman
with a ranger, a dancer, horse whisperer as siblings.
who stood in the wisdom of the previous decade.
With I shoulda coulda and don’t you do’s.
 
I was always taught to gain sustenance from my surroundings
to share all that I had with everyone
to find the path thru the wilderness
moving my body in rhythm to life’s composition
and listen to the silent whispers of the heartbeats around you.
 
That an overflowing heart
will always compensate for empty pockets.
 
That if you still your mind and open your faith
you are never separated from the ones we love.
 
that grief is not pain, but a process of learning to love in absence
after the privilege of loving in presence.
so I celebrate each tear with equal parts laughter
 
and I know it may seem I ‘m more the son of a fisherman
casting lines at you about the one that got away
 
I can only say that it was my mother who gifted me
with Khalil Gibran
And her line attached to this lure I’m casting
from our days together on the radio
specifically from the Tuesday night mediumship show
whenever someone called consumed with pain
by the depth of their grief
she would remind them that grief
is only the measure of love that we had for that person
 
that our connection continues
so when we cry cause we lost them
they cry for us because they’re still there
But when we laugh with what we shared they laugh with us
 
so please tonight go home and find your stillness
take a candle lit bath or sit in meditation
or fold your hands prayer
or sing
or dance
do what ever it is that allows your soul it’s freedom
to transcend the numbness
that the world asks us to assume
to unlock the cage we keep our hearts in
and feel
feel the light you posses
discover the joy and unity of the human spirit
and laugh with my mom
 
and any tears you shed will be the salve to heal scars of her leaving.
