At least 10 people have died in a fire at a home for the elderly in western Austria, a rescue official has said.
Austria Press Agency (APA), the country's national news agency, reported that at least 11 people had died and five had been injured, while 23 had been evacuated from the building.
The two death tolls could not immediately be reconciled.
APA said that 24 people lived in the home and that the fire, in the town of Egg, was still raging out of control on Friday evening.
The extra people evacuated were believed to be staff or visitors.
The fire was believed to have broken out in a room and then quickly spread through the multi-storey building.
Firefighters were said to be attempting to put out the blaze on the second and third floors of the home.
