Memories of Claudette Colbert

My memory

robb Jul 08, 2010

my favorite memory of ms. Colbert was in Cleopatra. She is sitting on the huge reed throne on her gigantic barge and Antony comes roaring in shaking his fist at her and says:" I told you to meet me in the public square in Tarsis!" and in true dry Colbert form she looks to the left and behind her and then to the right and behind her and says: "Oh, were you speaking to ME?". and later when they are talking she tells him: I bet if you hit me here(in the chin) my head would fall off and roll down the deck and into the Nile." Antony says:"no, your head wouldn't even touch the deck. It was that kind of banter that made Ms. Colbert one of my all time favorites. She will be missed.

Thanks Claudette

I love Ms. Colbert's films! She was especially charming in Cecil B. DeMille's "Cleopatra", she was awesome. I still enjoy it alot better than the Elizabeth Taylor one. She remains one of my favorite stars. Thank you Claudette and may the Lord keep you by his side.

Claudette Colbert is one of my most favorite classic actresses ever! I have a myspace page on her and adore her films. She was so eye catching and fresh. True natural at acting and is greatly missed. I still am amazed at her vitality after all these years. Everyday I get a new friend request on my, myspace page of hers. She is still so loved. Wonderful tribute you have here.

Sincerely, Paula R

I just stumbled upon this site while browsing "Claudette Colbert". One of my favourite films is "The Egg and I" with Fred MacMurray. She could convey sooooo much with just her eyes and facial expressions. One glance and we knew what she was thinking! There is the scene in "The Egg and I" with Fred MacMurray, when they are in the car driving to their "new" home. He is going on and on about the different kinds of chickens and she is saying so much with so few remarks! Absolutely hilarious! The other scene which had me in tears of hilarity was when they are at the dance and she is dancing with one 'weirdo' after another. I can't recommend this film enough. Actresses of today can't hold a candle to her!
