Craig Jones Tribute

He won the 1996 British Junior Mini-Moto Championship, the 1997 British Senior Mini-Moto Championship and the 2002 British Junior Superstock Championship.

In 2005 he finished runner-up in the British Supersport Championship before moving to the World Superbike Championship for 2006.

A year later he finished fifth in the World Supersport Championship, while in 2008 he was a regular podium finisher and among the favourites for the Championship title.

He was one of Britain's most promising talents and had been fighting for the lead at the Kent circuit. He didn't manage to finish the race though. Craig died in hospital from severe injuries he suffered in a crash at Brands Hatch on Sunday, 3rd August.



Driving Parkalgar Honda, Craig suffered head injuries at the Kent circuit when, chasing leader Jonathan Rea on lap seven of a restarted race, he slid out at Clark Curve and was left exposed on the track. He was then hit by Ten Kate Honda rider Andrew Pitt, who tried desperately to avoid him but was left with nowhere to go.

The race was stopped. Craig was resuscitated four times before being flown by Air Ambulance to Royal London hospital, where he was placed in a pharmacological coma by doctors. Their attempts to stabilise his condition were in vain and he died in the early hours of Monday morning.

He will always be remembered as a young ambitious man, following his dream and passion. Our condolences go to Craig's family and friends in this painful time.
