A Friend Lost
One person was killed and two injured early Sunday morning Aug 24th when a boat they were riding in slammed into the rocks of the outer break wall near the Kenosha lighthouse.
All three Kenosha residents were ejected from the 18-foot boat when it hit the outer break wall at a high rate of speed at 1:15 a.m.
The driver, Daniel Eddy, 31, was killed after he was thrown over the wall and into Lake Michigan, said Petty Officer 3rd Class Matthew Collins, from Coast Guard Station Kenosha.
Andrea Wooters, 26, was taken to the Kenosha Medical Center with a spinal fracture and other injures, and Charles Meldoff, whose age wasn't available, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
A Coast Guard crew arrived on scene within five minutes of the accident, apparently after Meldoff used his cell phone to call for help. Kenosha police, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department dive team, and firefighters also participated in the search and rescue, but it took another hour and a half before a Coast Guard helicopter spotted Eddy in the water, officials said.
