I have made this tribute to celebrate the life of my idol, Daniela, who died after a battle with cancer.

Former Austrian doubles player Daniela Klemenschits died Wednesday after battling cancer. She was 25.

The Austrian tennis federation said Wednesday that Klemenschits and her twin sister Sandra were diagnosed with a rare form of abdominal cancer in January last year, forcing them to retire.

They played doubles on the WTA Tour and the ITF women's circuit until 2006.

Daniela you shone among us until now have been able to continue to do so in heaven ... and will be the angel of every tennis player who, like me, have had the pleasure and honour to meet you ... rest in peace!

Dani, you were always such a happy person, full of spirit and happiness. It is just terrible that you had to leave us so soon. I know you are in heaven looking down on us and sending your strength to Sandi. May you rest in peace, and may all my prayers go out to you, your family and Sandra!!!!
