A. Della worked outside of the home to help make ends meet. She was a fun loving mother and her children remember much laughter growing up despite few resources. Della loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren equally.

Q. Did Della Mae Bradley have siblings? Were they close?
A. Della had two older brothers, Jim and Earl (now deceased) and a younger sister Leona. Della was born in Ontario, Canada and moved to Royal Oak with her family when she was five years old. Della's mother died when she was 11 years old. This was a difficult time for the Jones family.

Q. Did Della Mae Bradley have a favorite or memorable family story?
A. We have many memorable "Della" stories. My favorites are the day Della retired from Dow Chemical in the winter of 1975, Della was so excited she exited her truck in the parking lot and ran into the building. A short time later, the parking lot attendant came up to Della's desk to speak with Della. He told Della that she had left the keys in her locked truck and the engine was running.
Another time, with the same pickup truck, this time with a camper on the back, Della ran to the brand new drive-through bank in downtown Midland, MI. She saw the sign that told the clearance for the new structure, but Della did not know how high her camper was. Della found out soon enough when her truck and camper became wedge under the drive-through. All of the tellers had to run out to the vehicles behind Della's wedged truck to make their transactions. Men tried to take air out of the tires to release the truck to no avail. Della was struck. finally, the decision was made to just have Della gun the truck and back out. This she did, taking part of the structure with her. The truck was just fine.

A. Besides playing mother for her siblings after her mom died, Della worked in a department store in Metro Detroit, MI and she babysat for her aunt. Della loved babysitting and working as a sales clerk.

A. Della always told her girls, that it was just as easy to marry a rich man as a poor man. However, she did not follow her own advice. Della loved to travel and spend time with her family.
