Dillon Wolford Tribute

Wolford, Dillon Blake Dillon Blake Wolford, age 23, of Frisco, Texas passed away September 12, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 28, 1985, in Lafayette, Louisiana to Susan and Bernie Wolford Jr. Dillon accomplished and experienced so much during his 23 years of life. He was a 2004 graduate of Earl of March High School in Ottawa, Canada. His many hobbies included playing hockey, watching pro wrestling, video games, and collecting and reading comic books. As a devoted hockey enthusiast he was a member of the Varsity Hockey Team at Earl of March High School and was recognized as Most Valuable Player on his Kanata Predator Team. He participated in numerous hockey games and tournaments throughout his hockey career, and while living in Frisco he was a member of the Frisco Senior Adult Hockey League and the Frisco Bowling League. In his childhood he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. Dillon was blessed with the opportunity to live and experience different cultures from around the world. He lived in the Middle East, South Korea and Canada. He was able to visit areas in Europe, Asia, The Americas and Africa. His community involvement included Feast for Famine, Ottawa Food Bank, Ottawa Tulip Festival and the 10K National Capital Charity Race. Prior to his diagnosis Dillon was attending Collin County Community College in Frisco. In addition to being a full time college student he worked for Dick's Sporting Goods Store in Frisco. In November 2005, he was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Dillon was a courageous young man who fought valiantly against a dreadful disease. Although he lost his battle against cancer, he was a fighter to the very end. Those who were blessed enough to know him will remember his good nature, kind spirit and smiling face. When faced with cancer he never asked "why me", as he refused to be a victim and always maintained a positive attitude. Dillon was always the athlete and lived life to the fullest. He left behind a legacy of victory and will forever be a hero to us all. Dillon is survived by his mother and step-father, Susan Wolford and Alistair Strachan of Frisco; father and step-mother, Bernie and Morna Wolford of Houston, Texas; sister, Tiffany Wolford of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Campbell Wolford of Houston; grandparents, Madie and Bernie Wolford Sr. of Longview, Texas, Sylvia Bennett of Kilgore, Texas; Cliff Rhodes of Big Sandy, Texas; and great grandmother, Marjorie Smith also of Kilgore, Texas.
