My Memory

Stephen Smith Jul 03, 2008

I had the pleasure of meeting Eddy Arnold at the Country Music Hall of Fame upon his dedication of years of memorabilia. What a thrill! I told him he had been my favorite singer since the 4th grade (I'm 58), and he seemed so appreciative. Both his music and the dignity he brought to his performance has always touched and entertained me. In addition to entertainment, there has always been an Eddy Arnold song that touched me in the tough times. I still listen to his smooth, warm, and mellow voice more than anyone elses. I'm so sorry Eddy is gone. Yet he lives through his music among those of us that continue to be his fans. He truly did present himself as a country gentleman, which was his great charm. My prayers are for his family and all the others who were close to him. Their loss, I'm sure, is even greater.
