Obituary

Beddow, Elizabeth Lucille, “Betsy”, 81, of Gulfport, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Bayfront Medical Center. Born in Adrian, MI, she came here in 1963 from Detroit, MI, where she graduated from Wayne University with her teaching certificate. She also received her Associate of Arts degree from St. Petersburg College. She taught dancing to elementary school children in Detroit, MI. She was a member of the original Gulfport Arts Council and inspired others to celebrate life to the love of music, art, and cultural education. She faithfully attended Church By The Sea for many years. She was an active realtor in Pinellas County since 1983. She was a member of the Gulfport Redevelopment Committee and enjoyed volunteering within her beloved Gulfport community.

She was preceded in death by her mother Florence Rose Beddow and father Thomas Irland Beddow. She is survived by her children: Laura Elizabeth Parry of Gulfport, FL, Margery Jean Colucci of Seminole, FL, Daniel Witt Parry of St. Petersburg, FL, and David Russell Parry of St. Petersburg, FL; sister Margery Jean Beddow of NY, NY; niece Pamela Saunders of Los Angeles, CA; five grandsons: Anthony, Christopher, Austin, Joe, and Sam; nieces: Joanie, Jan and Pamela. The family would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love and kindness shown to them during this time. A memorial service will be held at the Catherine Hickman Theater on May 17, 2009 at 2 pm. Refreshments and a time of reflection will be offered prior to and immediately following the service. A celebration of Betsy’s life will continue at The Peninsula at 2937 Beach Boulevard S. Donations and flowers will be accepted. ALifeTribute FuneralCare – Gulfport, (727) 347-5521.
