About

The Legend

Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel, Jr. (October 17, 1938 – November 30, 2007) was an American motorcycle daredevil, a well-known figure in the United States and elsewhere since the late 1960s, and arguably the most iconic motorbike stuntman of all time. Knievel's nationally televised motorcycle jumps, including his 1974 attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon at Twin Falls, Idaho, represent four of the top 20 most-watched ABC's Wide World of Sports events of all time.

His achievements and failures got him into the Guinness Book of World Records several times, including his record forty broken bones. Knievel's daredevil persona was parodied as "Super Dave Osborne", a fictional character played by Bob Einstein, whose signature is to perform outrageous stunts which invariably go awry and result in his grievous injury.

Every boy in my neighborhood wanted to be like EVEL KNIEVEL when I was young. My brother and I used to make ridiculous ramps! Some neighborhood kids would lay down and we would jump them on our Sears Spirit of 76" bikes. The ramps would get more and more dangerous!! Plenty of memories, wrecks, wheelies and FUN!!! (and knuckle scrapes from the GYRO) A True American Icon and my lifetime Hero. My collection has been displayed in the front room for years, Nice to school the youngsters

Cindy Dec 03, 2007

I enjoyed the time we spent together, the traveling, the golf tournaments, the dinners with Mafia, Mohamad Ali, Joe Frazier, and so many others. But what I remember most, at least what I can post is that you were a strong man but so kind and loving. I remember when we were in Houston at the Doug Sanders Celebrity Golf Classic and I bought "Tiger" your daughter a stuffed Tiger, you slept with it next to you that night because you missed her so much and it made you feel closer to her. I have even see you cry. That is what makes you so strong and I am so glad you are with Jesus, your Saviour now. You always knew him, you just had so many distractions. You will be dearly missed by so many. God Bless and I will see you in Heaven. Love your friend always, Cindy
