About
tragedy
A Canadian man has been charged with the murders of his wife and four children in Mason, Ohio.
The Canadian woman and her children died in a house fire Friday night. Ohio police have now charged her 34-year-old husband, Michael Veillette, with four counts of aggravated murder, one count of murder, and aggravated arson.
The victims are 33-year-old Nadya Ferrari-Veillette, her 8-year-old daughter, Marguarite, and her 4-year-old son, Vincent. Ferrari-Veillette's 3-year-old twins -- Jacob and Mia -- also died.
The family had been living in Mason -- 30 kilometres northeast of Cincinnati -- for the past two years. Police say they were originally from Laval, Quebec.
A neighbor told local news crews he was not aware of any trouble at the home before Friday night's incident. Police don't have a motive and they say their investigation is not yet complete.
Ferrari-Veillette worked in a mall and Veillette designs engines. Neighbors said he would spend most of his time travelling for his job and was home only a few days a month.
Marguarite was a student at Mason Heights Elementary School. Her principal -- Eric Messer -- told The Associated Press that "her mother was an amazing parent. Everyone is in shock. It's such a tragedy."
