Memories of George Carlin

Religion is a joke, God is an illusion

B1n4ryM4xX Feb 09, 2009

George Carlin was and will always continue to be a great American, an incredible comedian, and above all a purveyor of truth and disseminate of liars. Billions of us have been persuaded to criticize others because of the lie of religion. The oldest of controls from those who would see us all slaves to their desires. Praise the speakers of truth and damn the liars and teachers of lies and illusion. I wish that we all live in an eternal fantasy of immortal life. But by dissemination of fact and recovery of historical record and fact it is most probable that we invented an afterlife and the illusion of God to fulfill the desire and wish to be more than alone in the Universe. Accepting the fact the none of us want to disappear, the fact remains that each of us may have to accept the fact that death is ultimately the end of life. Do not despair. For in this realization, may be the salivation of the human race. Live, love, express your feelings for lovers, siblings, family, and children. For if in life there is unto to all of us an end, the life itself has become the most treasured and precious gift of all. Peace be with you.

Pure Comedy Genius

I first saw George Carlin as the old guy from the future in the Bill & Ted movies. It wasn't till a few years later I heard this amazing comedian on an internet comedy station and decided to 'google' him, lo and behold it was the guy from the Bill & Ted movies.... thus began my lifelong admiration for one of the worlds greatest comedians. His wit, timing, intelligence set him above not only other comedians but most people too. Like George, I don't believe in god with a big G, but I hope wherever he his, if there does happen to be something after death, that he is recieving his rewards for a lifetime bringing humour, joy and above all social commentary that made you think... We'll miss you George, I look forward to finding out what the 7 words you can't say in heaven are... and I hope you let me know when i see you eventually....

I cant wait to hear the jokes in Heaven!

George what an original funny guy! I could only hope to be as good as he was at telling a funny story! We will miss you George and say hi to Geroge Harrison and John Lennon for me!

A Revolutionary Wordsmith

What made George Carlin Stand out from his contemporaries was his ability to change with the times and stick it out, no matter what. He could've remained safely "button-down" and played to the masses, but he saw that thinking-person's comedy was needed. Sure, he got his fair share of Hell because of it, but he also changed today's comedy into what its supposed to be - thought provoking AS WELL AS entertaining. He ranks up there with Mort Sahl, Lenny Bruce, and Ben Stein as being the current version of the jester.

Carlin once said he was most proud of being a footnote in Supreme Court history with his participation in an obscenity suit related to "the seven words you can't say on television." Amen, brother! I'll also remember him for the "shell-shock" monologue (look it up - it has even more meaning now) and his wry commentary such as "who empties the wishing well?" He didn't believe in a traditional God, but I hope the handrail on the escalator to Heaven doesn't go faster than the stair he stood on.

I miss ya already, George!

My Memory

As a stand up comedian I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Mr Carlin in Los Angeles many years ago. He was a ground breaking comedian who pushed the boundaries of comedy to new heights. He was a man of character and was a huge influence to many comedians as I am sure he will be in future generations. Comedy knows no boundaries and is timeless.

One of the best

Just recently started listening George' material on ''Social Crime Radio Network''. What a shock, he and his way to use any kind of word to make it funny will be missed...
I remember when I was a kid, I used to watch Thomas The Tank Engine. Yeah, he will always be one of my favorite comedians.

"The Seven Words"

Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, tits. It wasn't that easy to find these and they wouldn't say them on the radio recently. Rest In Peace sweet rebel. May your imprint on the American psyche and your job of enlightening through entertainment be an example to all of us in any place or status. Our critical thinking skills, warmth and humor make us human. Why do we just accept everything like sheep? I guess we're used to or trained that way. Time to wake up and be accounted for. I don't want to drink Gatorade from a drinking fountain (if I can even find one). Thank you Mr. Carlin and I'll give you more than 6 weeks, besides I don't even have your phone #.

He was just here a minute ago

I saw George in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, using notes as he performed... he said he was rehearsing for his HBO show... = ( I looked around the room as I'm laughing at his jokes and I saw some older ladies very upset and many others walking out ...George seem to enjoy the reaction of these people. When the show was over, he was walking away quickly , he saw me with my camera, stopped and allowed me take a picture of him...I was so honored, specially since cameras were not allowed.....I will miss his wit, his art and way of thinking....The world lost a great man in him but his work will live forever.......

Getting through High School

Debbie Atkinson Jun 29, 2008

George's humor helped me get through high school. I started listening to George when I was 15 years old. My friends and I would gather at Tim's house almost every day during lunch to listen to George's albums. Listening to George's humor helped us get through the day, when everything is so serious at school, we had an escape for a little while. I remember seeing him on the first SNL and again on Thomas the Train when my children were young. George will always be the King of Comedy. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind and did it with humor. It taught me not to take things so seriously and there is always a funny side to everything. Live on George!
