About

MUM

I guess i don't know all that much about mum's details before she was my mum... i know she was born in Humrun, Malta and i know she came to Australia with my brother Frank and my father Joe on the Castel Felice.

Mum always went without to ensure that her children had everything they needed. She loved sewing and knitting and spent hours making our clothes.

Mum's cooking was 2nd to none, her macaronie was yummy... her marshmallows even better. Sunday meant a wonderful lunch no matter how many of us turned up she always had enough for all.

If my family and I work on this together we can fill in the gaps.

My mother was a loving, caring wife and mother. She was always smiling no matter how difficult the situation. I am hoping as days, weeks, months go by we can all share the good and bad times through this site.

FOR MY NANNA -- MAY GOD KEEP YOU WELL

Rae33 Oct 30, 2008

GOD LOOKED AROUND HIS GARDEN
AND HE FOUND AN EMPTY SPACE
HE THEN LOOKED DOWN UPON THE EARTH
AND SAW YOUR TIRED FACE
HE PUT HIS ARMS AROUND YOU
AND LIFTED YOU TO REST
GODS GARDEN MUST BE BEAUTIFUL
HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST
HE KNEW THAT YOU WERE SUFFERING
HE KNEW YOU WERE IN PAIN
HE KNEW THAT YOU WOULD NEVER BE WELL
ON THIS EARTH AGAIN
HE SAW THE ROAD WAS GETTING ROUGH
THAT THE HILLS WERE HARD TO CLIMB
SO HE CLOSED YOUR WEARY EYELIDS
AND WHISPERED "PEACE BE THINE"
IT BROKE OUR HEARTS TO LOSE YOU
BUT YOU DIDNT GO ALONE
FOR PART OF ME WENT WITH YOU
THE DAY GOD CALLED YOU HOME

ALL MY LOVE

An Angel From Heaven

Nan was always the one who made everyone smile if they were down and even if she doesnt make us happy she always says somthing outrageous that made us giggle...Nan was always happy even when she was in hospital...Nan loved us gran-children with her own heart and i am sure that each and everyone of us has a special memory, and my memory of nan will always be of our talks about her dolls and nan teaching me how to knit. My bedroom is filled with items i have gotten from nan such as dolls, watches, the crystal set that nan had given my mother, and many other things that have there own little story. I will miss her very much and nan will always have a special place in my heart. I would really love to thank everyone for doing there own little part at the funeral, it was something I will remember about forever, every second and every face. I love you papa and i love all my family, and special thanks to all my cousins for helping each family member through this hard time. Love you all

The Poem I Read

lollymacau Oct 24, 2008

For those of you who weren't aware.. this poem was read at the Queen Mums Funeral.

She is Gone

You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what she would want:
smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.

The Funeral

lollymacau Oct 24, 2008

I was overwhelmed with the love and support shown by the hundreds of people who attended mum's funeral, as I am sure the family was. People who love/d and cherished mum in their own way. It was hard to see everyone or talk to all who were there, but I remember looking up from the pulpit when Frank and I were delivering the eulogy to see a sea of people looking back.
When i got home i was able to reflect on the day and actually started remembering some of the faces, people i remember from when i was just a little girl, neighbours, parents of school friends, people mum knew from housie/bingo, people who used to go to the club with mum and dad, people who i didnt know, but i could see from the tears in their eyes that they knew mum.
I will forever hold in my heart the kind words that were whispered to me on the day, from people i barely knew, or couldnt see because my eyes were filled with tears.
Our children did a wonderful job delivering different parts of the mass, something i know they will remember for a long time. I thank each and every one of them for their bravery and I am sure mum was looking down on them giving them strength.
I would personally like to thank Pete, my fiancee, my daughter, Kristen-Keira and my best friend Pamela, without them i would not have been able to get through the hardest week of my life.
Finally i would like to thank my father JOE, his love, his strength and his bravery helped me get through the day. I Love U DAD
