About
Great contributor to Turkish football
Hasan Doğan, born in Kastamonu in 1956, was a graduate of mechanical engineering from Yıldız Technical University. He studied English in the United Kingdom, and worked in marketing before founding his own men's wear company in 1988. He was also a member of the Turkish Olympic Committee, or TMOK. Doğan was married and had two children.
He served as president of the TFF for five months, having been elected to the post in February. Previously he had been vice president under Levent Bıçakcı between 2004 and 2006.
Hasan Doğan died of a heart attack Saturday at the age of 52. His funeral took place today in Instanbul at Fatih Mosque at noon.
Everything he created was a milestone for Turkish football, helping in the great success at EURO 2008, with the unforgettable semifinal against Germany. His legacy should continue after him, as he was the one to bring Turkish football to great victories.
Many sports clubs, ministers and politicians issued statements to express their condolences to the Doğan family and the Turkish sports community.
It's a great loss not only for the Turkish football, but also for all european football community, or maybe even the world football.
