This page is for individuals or people who have lost a loved one, like me. My family is just me & my brother left, we are in our early- 40's. I would like to know how you feel when you had a family and now it's starting to dwindle to just a few?

About

The Journey of Helen Louise Clark

My Mother, Louise ( as she liked to be called!), died from complications of Pneumonia and Congestive Heart  Failure, at the same time. She suffered from Diabetes, one of the worst cases I ever seen. Prior to her death she was nearly blind, losing about 80% of her sight, had a toe on her right foot amputated, and eventually lost her entire left foot to amputation, just below the knee. She was placed in nursing homes on 4 occasions, discharged from all of them, due to medicare regulations and policies, and had  home health care twice in a year. After medicare stepped in and disallowed her to continue home care, we ended up taking care of her. Me and my brother were already taking care of her for nearly 2 years prior to her death. When you run out of options, you have to do it, she's my mother, and she raised me and took care of me. Through those years, taking care of my mother took it's toll on my health, but she's my mother, I felt obligated to do it!

Memories

Sort of like Sophia Petrillo

Darrell Clark Jul 25, 2008

My Mother had a great sense of humor, despite it all! She was always known for her one-line quips, just like the late Estelle Getty ( Sophia Petrillo). She loved to play Bingo, go to concerts, country music, babysitting, and playing cards over at the neighbors house. She had a mean streak on us kids, but now that I reflect on my childhood, I probably deserved most of the punishment. She loved her two boys, we were both born on March 31st! My brother is two years older and took care of us well!
