My memories of The Soul Man

As a gangly, zit-covered white guy of only 17 years of age, I lost my virginity to a 25 yr. old divorcee from Hawaii. Before the ordeal, she turned me on to Hot Buttered Soul, and I couldn't believe how lush, hot, and beautiful it was, (the album) all at the same time! I bought each and every album that came out after that, and his music has served as the soundtrack for every relationship I've had since then - serious, or non-serious.

Isaac instinctively knew that man needed someone like him to speak for the softer side of us that we know is there, but sometimes have a really hard time getting it out the right way... and he did that for us better than anyone else either before, or since. Long live the romantic music of Isaac Hayes, and all my sympathies to his family and personal friends.

It will soon be a year when we lost Isaac, while it is true we have lost other great musicians, none can say the they were the first African American to win an oscar for a musical score, his songs will forever be with me especially Memphis in May

To The Family

I grew up listening to Mr. Hayes' music as wll as having him almost like in our family. Mr . Hayes was a childhood friend of my cousin ( B. Flowers) from
Covington, Tenn, but now resides in Detroit and anytime he was in Detroit he made it a point to come see us. My family sends it condolences to yours.

We have never met, but your music is like the soundtrack to my life . You have been there for me since 1971 when i was only 11 years of age . You were there when I made love in a Rolls Royce at Beachy Head , I have every studio album you ever produced . Finally my dreams of seeing you came true at Bournemouth Opera House in 2007. I am smashed that I never touched your hand as some lucky fans did that night , but hell as you would say , the music crossed the Atlantic and stuck in my Soul and that is the greatest gift of all , thank you Isaac Hayes , we love you , and will always do so , Heaven is blessed .

THE ISAAC HAYES FAMILY: WE ALL ARE VERY SADEN OVER THIS LOST OF A WONDERFUL AND VERY TALENTED MAN, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, HUSBAND AND FRIEND TO MOST. THE HEAVENLY CHOIR HAS ADDED ANOTHER ONE OF GOD'S ANGELS OF SOUND. MR HAYES'S MUSIC IS A ONE OF A KIND TYPE OF MUSIC AND IT WILL BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. MAY GOD BLESS THIS FAMILY IN THEIR TIME OF SORROWS AND TO EASE THE HURT OF THIS LOST AS TIME GOES BY.
