Upon hearing the passing of Mr. Hayes I wept like he was a member of my own family.
You will be missed Godfather . My prayers go out to the entire Family.

BERNIE DIED THE 9TH OF AUGUST AND YOU DIED THE 10TH THATS SO WEIRD TO ME... BOTH OF YOU WAS JUST GETTING READY TO FINISH A MOVIE YALL PUT TOGETHER.... HMM WILL WE EVER GET TO SEE IT?? I HOPE SO

I grew up listening to Mr. Hayes' music as wll as having him almost like in our family. Mr . Hayes was a childhood friend of my cousin ( B. Flowers) from
Covington, Tenn, but now resides in Detroit and anytime he was in Detroit he made it a point to come see us. My family sends it condolences to yours.

THE ISAAC HAYES FAMILY: WE ALL ARE VERY SADEN OVER THIS LOST OF A WONDERFUL AND VERY TALENTED MAN, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, HUSBAND AND FRIEND TO MOST. THE HEAVENLY CHOIR HAS ADDED ANOTHER ONE OF GOD'S ANGELS OF SOUND. MR HAYES'S MUSIC IS A ONE OF A KIND TYPE OF MUSIC AND IT WILL BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. MAY GOD BLESS THIS FAMILY IN THEIR TIME OF SORROWS AND TO EASE THE HURT OF THIS LOST AS TIME GOES BY.

I remember in 1969, upon my return from service in Vietman...my high school best friend had just purchased a new Grand Prix and as we sat in the car I remember him playing Hot Buttered Soul. As I sat there listening to it, I was in awe of the instrumentation it projected into my ears. As the years progressed I brought every single album Isaac made and was most wowed by Black Moses especially because at that time you could unfold the album cover to display anywhere on the wall. I strategically placed my blacklight at the time and could see the hooded robe which he wore stand out. In 1971 I attended a live concert of his at the homecoming at FAMU and when he walked out on stage..everyone went wild because we were all chanting "Black Moses, Black Moses."
Isaac, I will miss you because YOU ARE a true genius..
