Jade Goody

A brash British reality show star whose ups and downs captivated the nation till her dying day in the early hours of Mothers Day.

Her first foray into the spotlight was in 2002, when she lost at strip poker on Britain's version of "Big Brother." She went on to write her autobiography, star in fitness videos, release a perfume and appear on "Celebrity Big Brother," where she was accused of racism and bullying a Bollywood star, Shilpa Shetty.

To make amends, she went to India last summer to star in its version of "Big Brother." It was there _ in a shocking diagnosis captured on television _ that she found out about her cancer.

Bald and pale from chemotherapy, pictures of Jade have since been daily fodder in the British press. She says the publicity and profits made from selling her story will help her sons, 4-year-old Freddie and 5-year-old Bobby Jack, and raise awareness of cervical cancer.

I too have suffered this disease, but fortunately recovered. Should it ever come back I hope I show the same bravery and dignity as Jade. I have just finished reading Jade's book - what a wondrful read couldn't put it down. Although Jade wasn't on this earth for many years she certainly packed a lot into them. The boys look adorable and I am sure with the love and support of their family they will come to terms with their loss.

Jade, i think you were so brave when many people would have given up. I have alot of admiration for how you handled your illness and made sure your boys would be able to have a better life, even when you knew it would be without you. I have followed your career for years since BB and you have made me laugh over the years!! you never took life too seriously and always saw the good in people.
It makes me very sad to think that many of us take life for granted when you didnt really get enough time, but the time you were here you can be assured will be remembered for years to come. You brightened up a lot of lives and have given hope to alot of other people that have too become ill with cancer. Awareness of the terrible desease has increased dramatically and because of you lives will be saved.
I hope where you are now you are free of pain and you are able to watch over your boys, Jack, your mum and your friends and be proud. This world will miss you Jade, i'll be looking for the brightest star and will send my love to you xxx

I am so sorry that she died so young... but what a life she had...

I lost my dad to cancer when I was just 8 yrs old. I am now 32 and not a day passes that I think about him. I have a place in my heart for Jade now and a place right next to my dads star shining brightly! Sleep now angel. xxxxx

Jade, I never admired you for your artistic talents. Even questionned why I had to pay TV licence to see you and other poor choice of TV programs. But I never thought you were stupid. It wasn't your fault the lack of general knowledge you didn't get when you were a child. Jade, in all your parents' messy life you were a gifted little girl and young lady who was able to run away from the social mess your parents belonged to. The world should acknowledge your good work didn't start with the cancer diagnosis, rather your exemple should be the light for those children throughout the world who are going through the same difficulties you went. If you were unkind verbally you also were very kind and brave showing to the world what the reality of terminally illness can be. If you were ignorant you also taught a lot. You were born and loved to be in the media eye even in your worst moments. You wanted the media attention and you always copped with it till the end.
