Quick Biography

Baba was born to Agamah Akwu in one of the satellite villages of Ugwolawo called Ogo-Egwume. His birth put a stop to the dreaded spell after the first two children born to him had died.

Elder James Agamah was born to lead. This is manifested in his personal efforts to educate himself, first in Igala and then in English. He had never sat at a desk at school but he can read the English Bible well. It is the English Bible he used when he served as a preacher.

A SHORT BIOGRAPHY OF DR. ABU JOHN AGAMAH

Dr. Abu John Agamah, fondly called Tom by his parents, siblings, relations and close friends was born on September 19, 1947. He was the third of the eleven children of late Elder James Attah Agamah and Mrs. Lydia Jenebu Agamah. Tom started his primary education at Qua Iboe Mission (Q.I.M) Primary School Ugwolawo in the 1950s and ended at Q.I.M Primary School, Idah. He proceeded to the then Government Secondary School, Okene for his Secondary School from 1962 to 1966. From Okene, he went to Government College Keffi for his Higher School Certificate (A'levels). After Keffi, he attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1969/70 academic session to 1974/75 academic session where he studied Medicine and graduated with MBBS Degree with a Distinction. At the end of his pre- clinic years in Zaria, he was one of the two selected by the Faculty of Medicine to join the final year B.Sc. Human Physiology program at the University of Ibadan where he graduated with First Class Honours.
Dr. Agamah started his career as a House Officer at General Hospital, Ilorin, before he proceeded to Bauchi for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). After NYSC, he worked with the Murtala Muhammed College of Arts and Science, Makurdi (MUCAST) before joining the services of the Federal Polytechnic, Idah (FPI) in 1977 as the pioneer Medical Officer that established the Health Services Department of the institution. He rose to become the Medical Director and remained so until he voluntarily retired from the service of FPI to establish his own medical practice called Ojochogwu Clinic where he practiced until his call to glory.
He married former Miss Agnes Salamatu Akubo in 1978 and they are blessed with four children – Omaye, Achor, Afenoko and Ojochenemi; and two grand children.

Daniel’s Reflections 1 year 4 months 10 days after Baba and today 1 month after Baba Omaye’s

These are my Reflections this morning: Today, 15thSeptember 2012, marks 1 year 4 months 10 days after Baba’s pre-dawn single flight to Heaven and 1 month after Baba Omaye’s early evening single flight to same Destination.

On this web site, I have had to celebrate Baba’s 1stmonth, 3rdmonth, 6thmonth and 1 year after using 5thof May as the reference. Now, I have a new date as reference and that is 15thAugust. 15thAugust 2012 was the day Baba’s first son - Dr Abu John Agamah – whom, we his siblings call Baba Omaye after his first child, Omaye, having been fondly called Tom before the first child was born into the larger family – took that early evening single flight to Heaven.

Unlike Baba, who departed a day after his 91stbirthday, Baba Omaye departed 1 month 4 days before his 65thbirthday! That difference between 91 and 65 years only God knows, not to mention the bigger difference between 91 and 48 years in the case of Baba Edeyi – over 12 years ago!

Be as it may be, all glory be to God Most High even though for me on Tuesday , 21st August 2012, I found it too hard to say “Good Night” in the AFTERNOON of my brother that afternoon – at his Funeral Service – as it was my lot to give a Testimony on behalf of his siblings. The testimony and tributes were wonderful memories of his brilliant academic and professional achievements as well as his well known principles – all very much worth celebrating and we thank God that He made it that our brother quit the stage in the AFTERNOON of his life here on earth while the ovation was deafeningly loud. Thank you LORD. Amen.
