Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. from Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin McTier officiating.

Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery with E.G. Cummings Memorial Funeral Home directing.

He leaves to cherish his memories nine devoted children, Verdell (Mallie) Shavers, Montgomery, AL, Gustavia Pritchett, Montgomery, AL, Charles (Elnora) Taylor, Montgomery, AL, Sarah (Karpeh) Fofana, Mobile, AL, Robert (Dorothy) Taylor, Jacksonville, FL, Walter(Willie Mae) Taylor, Bronx, NY, Mary Frances Anderson, Mobile, AL, Sadaria Scott, Mobile, AL and James Taylor, Jr., Montgomery, AL; 45 GrandChildren; four devoted grandchildren, Nikia (LaKeisha) Shavers, Fort Benning, GA, Alexis Shavers, Montgomery, AL, Sonja Pritchett, Montgomery, AL, and Luvale Taylor, Brooklyn, NY; 77 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; four devoted nieces, Virginia (Mose) Simmons, Juanita (William) Simmons, Matilda (James) Washington, Earnice Witherspoon, all of Tuscaloosa, AL and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
Several devoted friends to name at few, Mrs. Kitty Marie Harris, Montgomery, AL, Mrs. Sadie Bell Parker, Montgomery, AL and Mrs. Mary Torry, Montgomery, AL.
Family Hour will be held on Friday, June 29, 2001 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. from E.G. Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. The body will be lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
