Memories

Jane Lundy

Donna Berry Mar 26, 2010

I remember Jane back in our school days, she was a great friend. We played sport together, played up together and even shared house for a while. I have not seen her since those years but can imagine how she would have touched everyone lives. We did get in touch briefly some time ago and she emailed me how proud of her children and great her life was and how she was looking forward to the next chapter, we had a chuckle about how close in age our girls are, my regret is we did not see through a possible reunion. My condolences to her familys Matis and Lundys. And all her mates. I have and will always remember her.

I will always remember Jane Matis, (my sister-in-law) as a person who was truely genuine. She always made you feel at ease, she would welcome you into her home and make you feel like you belonged. She loved her family and that was evident in so many ways, her home was full of memories of wonderful events, photos of joyous family moments, her beloved children and family. Jane honestly cared about people, this was evident in the care she gave to our father-in-law during his illness. I remember how sad she was on his death and I will always remember her saying "You know I really understood him and I think he understood me, I miss him so much". To those who know how hard it can be to relate to in-laws of different ethnicity and limited english, that was so touching, it spoke to me and confirmed she was a lovely person. I have two regrets in my life the first is being disrespectful to my grandmother earlier on the morning she died and not being able to say sorry and the second will always be not contacting Jane when she needed someone. She was a truely wonderful person who I will remember always and who has taught me a great lesson in life. Thank you Jane, I will remember you. Andrea.

Kind, loving, inspirational and appreciative

My first memory of Jane was watching her walk down the isle as a beautiful and graceful bride. Some years later I remember attending a hosting for a wonderful reception at their family home for one of the children’s Christenings. I remember talking to Jane in her car and meeting her little daughters Olivia and Sophie. It was a warm greeting. Some time later Jane was enquiring with the office I was working at for rental accommodation for her grandmother. This was a loving and sincere undertaking Jane took on for her Grandmother. I assisted Jane in managing their property in Bronte and always enjoyed Jane's positive attitude and appreciation for whatever my job involved. She inspired me as I got to know more about her forward thinking in business and for what she had succeeded. Since this I saw Jane at occasional family functions, like a wedding or Christening. She was so approachable, always gave compliments and smiled as she spoke to you. My last memory was at Jane's father-in-law's funeral. When I voiced to her my condolences, she said crying and very upset, that her father-in-law was always so good to her and that she misses him. I can say this for Jane. She was always so good to me and I miss her.
