Tragic Loss of a Wonderful Woman
A 21-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning when the four-door Kia Spectra she was driving left the highway and impacted a group of live oak trees head-on about seven miles south of Hamilton on FM 2005.
A passing motorist noticed the car, which was almost hidden by the trees, and notified authorities.
A baby was found still strapped into a baby-carrier in the back seat. The child was taken by ambulance to Hamilton General Hospital and then transferred on to Scott and White Hospital in Temple for precautionary reasons. The baby did not appear to have serious injuries.
Investigating State Trooper Kyle Matthews said unsafe speed was a factor in the accident. The car left the highway on a curve about a mile from the Cowhouse Creek bridge. Matthews said the victim was Jennifer Roth of Lewisville.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace James Lively.
