Jerrold L. Williams Tribute

Well Jay, Jalik is 17 and driving. Funny thing is the older he gets the more he looks like you. I can see you in all the boys. You would be so proud of all of them. They miss their dad, know what I do too, so does mom and pretty much anyone who has ever met you. I listened to the last message you left reporting in from Oklahoma. One day I'd like to go across country and see all the beautiful things you told me about in this land of the free and home of the brave. More good news too, Jamar is going to be a daddy again. The Williams keep rocking on. Love you Jay, R.I.P.

Whoever knew Jerrold knew his heart was pure, kind, and caring. He was a man of character, not too many people I can say were really & truly my friend. But I can tell you he was, we lost contact over the years once he relocated back down South. But I never stopped thinking about how he was doing. Life is so short. I am so blessed to have had met, and known him. Carol and Dwayne how are you ? It hurts my heart to know, I won't see his face,smile,voice,jokes and his pranks !! He was very intelligent and a great communicator. And I know he LOVED his children very very much. And WE LOVED HIM. 1/27/11

Well Jay another year has come and gone. There are still people finding out that you've gone. Big brother you impacted a LOT of lives.I thank God that we talked often laughed much and loved always. I've been thinking about me, you and Dwayne. It's not many families who have siblings who are close, like each other, get along and have many of the same friends who we stayed close to pretty much all our lives. We were not only related by blood but by friendship, that's one of the greatest gifts God has given us. I miss you like crazy but one year less on earth is one year closer to seeing you again. Is it possible to be happy and sad all at once? Love is the message is still rocking on your page because its the message you brought to everyone. You live on in our hearts Jay.....

It was two years ago this month that I received an email while at work from Jay’s sister informing me of his passing. I looked at the computer screen and couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was truly devastated. You see, Jay was my friend and friends like Jay are hard to come by. He was always genuinely proud of my achievements i.e. a promotion, going back to school, a better paying job; and saddened when I was laid off (2x’s in 5 years). He always rooted for me from the road and he always had words of encouragement and loads of positivity. He was there to lend an ear when I needed someone to talk to just to blow off some steam. When you were Jay’s friend you were his friend for life!

I miss you, Jay, and I am proud to have called you my friend.
