A. Jessica's first job was a part time position at Milford nursing Home. She was around 15 or 16 and had to have working papers; she worked after school and on the weekends. She was a laundry person' it was a heavy dirty job; but she loved it. She was able to make her own money- pay for things she wanted such as drivers edu etc.She loved helping the elderly-she listened to them, folded their clothes a certin way - made sure a particular article of clothing was washed and ready for them- you know the little things that she could do that was extra special for them. She never called out, was never late and maintained her standards above anyother teenager would have. With her first pay check she purchased a 14kt gold cross came home and placed it around my neck. She was so proud that day and as I am writting this for all to read that gold cross is still around my neck- a daily reminder of Jessica's sweet loving thought and deeds for those of us so lucky to have known her.

Q. What is a funny childhood memory you have of Jessica Mae Morin Potter?
A. jessica had a teacher that told me that jessica was not using her full potental- that she was a social butterfly and that I needed to make her stop and study harder- well i thought about it and desided to allow jessica to express her freedom and continue to be that social butterfly- why because if a person had potental; that potental can be used when it was needed- but the lesson of communication and social intergration in society is also an important educational necessity- I could be an A student; but without poper education and communication skillsand the comfort to express them how could I make other people understand what I was tring to express- So Jessica's teacher was a little upset with me when I expressed that for the time being I thought that Jessica should be allow to learn how to fly in new new found role-The Social Butterfly she not only flew but she soared and when she needed her potental it was still there.
On the first day of the six grade Jessica was expelled from school-she had taken a can of hairspray and tried to set some boy on fire- well the principle stated to me- she was a bad kid...........knowing my daughter as well as I did I knew she had not started this ...she was following others but had been the one they caught. I told the principle he would not expell my daughter and I would punish her by self in my way- we had a little tiff but it went down that Jessica would do a 3 day in house suspension.. and I would take care of the rest- but Jessica would always be in trouble for the rest of her life because I didn't know my daughter.
So when Jessica and I talked about it the story went that somone bought in the hairsray and a lighter a group of boys and girls took turns lighting the can up and this boy who had already had a turn wanted a second turn before everybody else. He was pushed away so he ran up to a teacher and ratted out.It so happened Jessica was taking her turn and was caught-I'll addmit a dangerous stunt; but noone was harmed and we've all taken our turns at dangerous stunts- after all the goal was so show the whole school that this group of kids had moxie. So after I heard Jessica's side of the story I told her that hairsray was very dangerous and explained about compressed gas and explosion- and I understood that it was not an evil deed by one to show moxie and told her to stay out of trouble because she was labeled as the evil trouble maker and next time don't get caught,
she was never suspensed again and turns out she was very much admired and liked by students and teachers in her school. You see Jessica had strict rules and had to live up to obligations and she had to earn her privigeles threw her actions by taking on responsiblities- so I turned my eye away from one prank that had involved many others ; instead I explained the dangers and understood that children learn through their actions and mistakes- - I have always wanted to have been a fly on the wall to have seen her face when that can of hair sray light up like a fire ball!! It probally had scared her shitless!!!
