About

Jo Ann

Jo Ann served her country well as a Congresswoman for nearly 6 years.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and fought the disease with the same passion as she approached everything else in her life. This was her second bout with the disease. She will be missed by her husband and two sons, and her electorate.

My Memory

Elizabeth Singleton Oct 11, 2007

Mrs. Davis was a striking woman in many regards. She worked hard on behalf of her constituents and attained a great deal of stature on the Committee on Foreign Affairs, meeting with heads of state and foreign dignitaries as a matter of course. Nevertheless, she remained grounded and was gracious, down-to-earth and wholeheartedly approachable to everyone. She had sparkling brown eyes, a dazzling smile, and a wonderful sense of humor. I found her to be an inspirational role model on the Hill and even more so in her battle against breast cancer. Her passing is a great loss to many of us who admired her and a stark reminder that the battle against breast cancer is not a discriminatory one and one that we now must continue to fight in her memory.

I'll remember Congresswoman Davis' passionate defense of the unborn. Undoubtedly, the Congresswoman was greeted warmly as she entered eternal life.

My Memory

Alicia Roark Oct 09, 2007

I remember meeting Congresswoman Davis for the first time. I shook and stuttered profusely. She shook her hand and gently said, "Hi! Just call me JoAnn, it's ok." and gave me a hug and thanked me for her support.

She was a very classy lady and beautiful from the inside out. I will miss her deeply.
