About

Big Joe

On July 31st, our Dad/Grandpa Joe left San Diego/Mexico to go on a fishing trip to Sitka, Alaska with a bunch of buddies. He had the best trip ever, partied HARDY, caught 150 pounds of fish, reminisced about the good ole days, bonded with the boys, enjoyed himself and his company every day. The last day of the trip (August 5th), the gang went to breakfast. Dad decided to sleep in, told Alan to say good-bye for him, and off they went. When Alan returned, our Dad was already gone. EMS was called, arrived almost instantly, tended to my Dad for 45 minutes, and then transferred him to the hospital. Unfortunately, they were unable to save him. We were told that he passed from a massive heart attack.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20th , 4:00pm at:

Grand Tribute

John Trapani Sep 19, 2008

What a grand tribute from Joe's friends and family. I remembered years ago meeting Keith , Crystal and Kathy at YMCA Family Camp and knowing them for many years growing up in Alhambra. I'm sad to hear of your loss. Joe's children are a proud legacy to the way he enjoyed life.

My Colleague, My Friend, My Landlord

Richard J. Boesen Sep 15, 2008

For twenty years we officed together -- we talked law, we talked politics, we talked religion. We laughed a lot (Joe's roaring belly laughs were quite contagious you know) . I would often laugh when I would hear Joe's snores as he took his afternoon catnaps. Every morning for the past 15 years I would straighten the wall hangings on our adjoining wall and grumble to myself " Why can't he just sit in his chair instead of falling into it and bouncing off the wall ?" I loved that old boy like a brother --I will miss our chats about the law, about politics and about religion. I will miss those afternoon sounds of relaxation emanating from his office. What I will miss the most--is Joe. The world is a better place because of his contributions and I sure do miss looking at those crooked wall hangings!!! May my good friend and confidant rest in peace. I will never forget you.

My Memory Grateful for being in Joe's Life

cgenev Sep 13, 2008

Joe was a special friend and I wil always remember him. He was an honest, intelligent man of strong character who lived his life with purpose. He liked to enjoy life and laughed heartily as we all know. I will have many memories from the courthouse where we worked, his graduation from law school and his beach house where he looked forward to spending more time.
I will remember Joe's generosity and truthfulness --you could always count on him to give you his honest opinion. He was a big hearted man proud of his family and enjoying good times with them and his friends.
I will miss him very much but am also very grateful to have shared part of my life with him. Blessings to him wherever he is.

My sympathies to you Keith and Crystal,

Genny Chow
