Johnny Rush Bowman Tribute

I am a cousin of Johnny. My father, Reford Bowman, was the brother of Johnny's father Rush. I remember Johnny and his family coming to visit. I would carry Johnny around; he was always so sweet and quiet. I was surprised when he joined the troopers because I always thought of him as too kind and gentle to be in police work. When he was killed, my heart was so deeply saddened. I have always wondered why his murderer has never been brought to justice. I know how upset his mother was and how deeply she felt the wounds he suffered. She once told us that at night when she lay down, all she could think of was each of the stabs he received and how she felt each one.

My mother and father are both dead--Mom died in August of this year, but I will go through her photo albums and send pictures that I find of Johnny and his family. I even have a picture of Johnny's daddy as a baby. Rush and my father were orphaned at very young ages, and since there were the youngest of the family, Dad felt especially close to Rush and cared so very deeply for his sons.
