About
Who was Keenan James?
Keenan Scott James was born on August 2, 1969 in Plainfield, New Jersey. He moved down to South Carolina at age 11 and although he missed NJ alot, he found his place there and made many friends.
After graduating from Daniel High School, he attended Queens College on a vocal scholarship. He was a truly gifted musician- singing and playing the guitar were his deepest passions. He sang and traveled with rock and reggae groups for many years, including his band SOUL QUESTION.
He also had various other jobs that kept him busy. He was in the food industry for many years (Panera Bread, Bojangles, etc.) and also worked briefly for a furniture company. In May 2008 he began an exciting career with the Youth Learning Insitiute in Pickens, SC as the Lead Professional Development Facitilitator.
He was an outgoing, free spirited people person, an avid sports fan (Go Steelers!) who never met a stranger or someone he couldn't talk to. Anyone blessed to know him knows how much love he gave with just a single smile and a simple word. He had recently gotten together with his soulmate, Alexandra Lautenschlaeger, and was looking forward to their future, the happiest he'd ever been. Due to complications from diabetes, he died on Tuesday June 17, 2008 at 38 years of age. He was loved, admired, appreciated and respected by many and will be missed forever!
