Renowned artist Ken Danby, was one of Canada's foremost realist painters. Danby is best known for his 1972 painting At the Crease, showing a masked hockey player. The work hangs in reproduction in countless homes of Canadian hockey lovers.

Your art touched a place in my heart. Your depictions of sport, especially hockey made me feel that you loved the game as much as I did. I remember when I received a print of "Lacing Up" for my 20th birthday. It has since become one of my all time favourite paintings.
We will miss you and your unique perspective.
