Gayatri Mantra:

Om Bhoor Bhuva Sawah
Tat Sa Bitur Bhare Nam
Bhar Go Devasya Dhi Mahi
Dhi Yo Yona Prachodaya!!!!!!

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the spiritual guru whose pupils included the Beatles and Clint Eastwood, has died. The founder of transcendental meditation, a mind control technique using chanting, died at about 6pm GMT at his home in the Dutch town of Vlodrop. He was thought to be 91, although his exact birth date is unclear.

A Transcendantal Meditation movement spokesman said that the cause of death was unconfirmed, but appeared to be natural causes. The spiritualist, whose birth name was Mahesh Prasad Varma, attracted his most famous pupils in 1967, when the Beatles travelled to Bangor, North Wales, to enrol in a course. The band later travelled to India, but the trip was soured when John Lennon left early. The Beatle wrote about his experience in the song Sexy Sadie, which contained the lyrics “What have you done? You made a fool out of everyone.”

Other followers included the Beach Boys and David Lynch, the film director best known for Blue Velvet.

Memories

Jai Guru Deva

David Heard Mar 27, 2010

I never met you but you came into my life...it must have been destiny. I am so glad and happy now... where before I was lost. You saved my life Maharishi. I trusted you, read your books, attended the First World Peace Conference in Massachusetts, and it all paid off as you said it would. I want to thank you so much for deciding to spread TM throughout the world. As you would have liked to have heard it...Jai Guru Dev!

My Memory and connection with you

Henry Ahlstrom Aug 14, 2009

In my hometown Stockholm, Sweden, I was 14, I was with the crowd waiting for you in the school's auditorium. Then you came down the aisle. I was surprised how short you were. That whole experience of seeing you walking down the aisle and hearing you talk... so easy for me then to know "this is it." I learned TM two months later. In Oslo, Norway, during vacation from MIU, Fairfield, some time in my 20's, I held up a rose, as you received it, you so gently touched my left hand - it was just like a gentle breeze. - My hand is blessed. And then there was the time at MIU. You came to us there. - Thank you..... ... What have I received from all these years of having a connection with you? - Many things. In this moment what strikes my mind is: I've met a person who so completely thinks for himself, i.e., someone whose Self is so alive in his actions and words. That's just one quality. But that one quality I've come to value so deeply in life; to live who we are deep within, in words and actions. It is to actualize,... to become,... to be enlightened. It is to transparently show who we are. This also makes for intimacy, connection with others. The two go hand in hand. Dear Maharishi, I am committed to actualizing, to enlighten. - Thank you for this gift. I do deeply miss you. Your passing away brought me tears and warmth. But foremost, it made me stop and it brought silence! I am 50 now. I'm at such peace with your passing away, and I think this is because you awakened this important value in me to actualize me. And as I do discover and live me, I find you there. Thank you for your eternal company. I hope I can be of good service to our world. You inspire me. - Henry Ahlstrom
