A. She had many favourite books and shows - she liked 'Look Homeward, Angel' by Thomas Wolfe, and loved lots of poetry. She had many favourite shows over the years, and in particular loved British murder mysteries/crime drama shows - Inspector Morse, McCallum, Rebus, A Touch of Frost, Prime Suspect, Cracker and loads of others.

A. Mum wasn't very athletic - she was definitely more of an arts and letters type of person. She did enjoy watch baseball games, back when the Jays won the World Series twice in the 80s. I think George Bell was her favourite player - can't remember.

A. Dogs :) Mum was bitten by a dog when she was a child (not badly, but enough to scar her - until Paula got Bailey, and then she became a Dog Person officially).

A. Albeit a small family we are close with many traditions, great memories which Marnie and her mother orchestrated over the years. They were the family glue!

A. She was a very positive person. Lots of energy and many outlooks on life. Famous quotes she often would say. There were many more... 'He who hesitates is lost' ... 'A bird in the hand is worth to in the bush' .... and the classic ... 'Let's get the show on the road!!'

A. Mum enjoyed the arts and had a passion for classical music and opera. It was always playing music as she puttered around the house, read her newpapers, did crosswords, etc. If you phoned, you always got..."Hang on, let me turn the radio down" Towards the end, I made some music compilations of classical for her to listen to when she wasn't doing very well in the hospital. It soothed and comforted her a great deal. She did enjoy art and had many lovely pieces throughout her home. Loving the classics like Renoir, Monet etc. In the last several years, Paula & Mum would frequent Toronto arts festivities, galleries, photography showings etc.

Q. Was Marion Ann 'Marnie' Murray an avid collector? Any quirky hobbies?
A. She didn't collect anything per se, but could be called quirky at times!! She loved her various birds and her honorary grandchild - my dog (Paula) - 'Bailey'. She'd sing these silly songs for Bailey. She really loved that pooch. Fortunately she saw her the Saturday prior to her passing and a huge smile burst out!

Q. Was Marion Ann 'Marnie' Murray a romantic?
A. Yes, she had a romantic heart. While she didn't date while we were young, she did admit that she was a flirt. She mentioned to us that at one point in her life she was hoping to have various dates say 'I love you' in their home language. We know that she was very beautiful and it's not hard to see how she racked up a whole long list of I love yous in various languages.

A. Lots of different foods. Homestyle 'Mum-esque' cooking. Potatoes of any sort, rice pudding, sweets, homestyle meals, occassional donut (Maple or French Crullers), Passion Flakies, Tea, Fried egg sandwiches... Liver and Onions (ick), Lamb of any sort. Stews. Much much more. She was dubbed 'Mother Mucker' for her ability to mush all her food together regardless of what it was. Her own personal stew. She enjoyed simple and good wholesome food. She made incredible meals and made it all look so easy!

A. Marion loved it here in Canada. I just can't imagine her living elsewhere, but if I have to guess I'll say that she would have loved to travel, and hope that she would have loved to live in Sri Lanka.
