TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF OUR BELOVED MOTHER – MARTHA YAA BOAKYEWAA BY CHILDREN

“If we live, we live for the Lord,

If we die, we die for the Lord,

So whether we live or die

We belong to the Lord” (Romans 14.8)

Among women who qualify to be called mothers, our mom was a mother par excellence’. She was fondly called mama and it became the household name.

Our eyes have grown deep with grief; our whole frame is but the shadow.

No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why. Our heart still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow, what it meant to lose you, no one will ever know.

If tears could build a stairway, and memories were a lane, we would walk right up to heaven to bring you home again, mom.

God saw you getting tired, so he wrapped His arms around you, and whispered, "Come to me.” You did not deserve to suffer, so he gave you rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He only picks the best.

Our mother was our shining example of strength and compassion of honour and love, even after our dad, Thompson K Obour Asiedu and sister, Dora Joyce Asiedu left us. We were grateful to call her "Mom". She made us proud, she was not only our mother, and she was our dear friend. Our mother had great strength and she was wise... We always knew we could draw from her strength whenever we needed it, .It gave us the courage to grow up and take risks to experience life's successes...And a few of its failures.

 Mother's compassion for others was so deep! She looked for the need and she filled it. She treated others with kindness and respect and many lives were blessed through her goodness..."

No matter how old we are, losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know, but her goodness, her caring and her wisdom live on..... Like a legacy of love that will always be with you.

We are empty, hollow, depressed. You were our home, you were the family,  and you kept us together.

We remember everything about you, your voice, you smile, your touch, the way you walked, the way you talked, the way you looked at us, meant so much. We remember all the words you said to us, some funny, some kind, some wise. All of the things you did for us, we see now with different eyes. We remember every moment we shared, seems like only yesterday, or maybe it was eons ago, It is hard to say. You are gone from us now, but one they cannot take away, your memory resides inside our heart, and lights up our darkest days.

For you are the wind beneath our wings, which help us to fly like an eagle. It might have appeared to go unnoticed, but we got it all here in our heart. We want you to know we know the truth, of course, we know it. We would be nothing without you. Did you ever know that you are our hero? You are everything we wish we could be.

Our mother was an open book - a woman who was afraid of nothing and of nobody, somebody not interested in convention but in truth and fun. "She believed in equality and decency and had no time for self pity." Her national anthem was “God Bless you”.

Somewhere in our heart, beneath all of this pain, is a smile we still wear... At the sound of your name,    the precious word is "MOTHER" She was our world, you see, but now our heart is breaking, she is no longer here with us. Her life on earth was through; But God had better plans for her. For this, we surely knew when we think of her kind heart and all those loving years, because we are only human, they are bound to bring us tears.

She truly was our best friend, someone we could confide in, she always had a tender touch, a soft and gentle grin.   We want to thank you Mother for teaching us so well even though, you never went to school. We will remember all you have taught us to put God above all others...

For we had no better teacher, than you did, our Dear Mother. Even though you have left this earth and had to take your flight, we know that you are here with us, each morning, noon and night.

To watch a dear one fade away is hard to really understand. Soon she will be gone from earth, and we will not be able to hold her hand. For the many years, she raised us to respect the rights of others. Along with truth and honesty, just as she taught us .We remember all the life in her and the fun we shared together.

The shattered remnant of our heart is strangely beating still, with holes so black and fathomless no light could ever fill. The years stretch on before us, so bleak and dark and long, we pray you walk beside us, mom, and help to keep us strong. In addition, when our life is over, come to us on that day, and smile at us and hold us tight and carry us away.

The wind that whispers through the trees, the brightest star at night, a rainbow on a  dismal day, a shaft of golden light, All these are signs you send to us, a message from above, that even death can't break the bonds of children and Motherly Love...

Mom, Thank you for our life, we will always miss you and love you!!!
Until we meet again...Goodbye. With, love from Janet, William, Alfred, John and Beatrice.

Jesus, keep me near the cross;

There a precious fountain,

Free to all, a healing stream,

Flows from Calvary’s mountain.

In the cross, in the cross, is my glory ever;

Till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river

Mama, Awurade Nhyira Wo,Mama Nante Yiye

MAMA, DAMIRIFA DUE, DUE! DUE!
