Remembering a Hollywood Director

Mel Ferrer has died at the ripe old age of 90 at a Santa Barbara convalescent home.

Ferrer was once upon a time married to the famous Audrey Hepburn and even co-starred alongside her in “War and Peace.”

As well as appearing on screen with Hepburn, Ferrer, also had a hand in her career as he directed “Green Mansions” and produced her film “Wait Until Dark,” as well as appearing alongside her on Broadway.

According to a family spokesman, he died during his sleep with family surrounding him.

His son Mark Ferrer, told the AP that over the last number of months, his father’s health had begun ailing, thus he had moved out of his ranch and into the home.

“Acting, at times, depresses Mel,” Hepburn once said. “Directing lifts him. He’s so relaxed at it that I just know it is the job he loves.”
