BRIEF HISTORY OF A VIRTUOUS WOMAN


Stories written in pen and ink does not capture all the details of a life well lived, not even the comments of a narrator or an observer. The earth’s hall of Laurel is however built and decorated with accolades of note-worthy lives, for history to celebrate, in life as well as in death. Of which one record will contain the story of a woman of valor, versatile in natural goodness, given to her generation by the divine, a helpmate and companion to her husband, a mother to her children, an encourager to her siblings, a model to her generation and a faithful pilgrim of Christ. Late madam Eunice Chinweokwu Ngonadi (Di Bu Ugwu) was the biblical virtuous woman of Proverb 31. Born in 1946, to the exemplary family of Late Pa Nathaniel and Late Madam Margaret Nworah of Obioha Village in Osumenyi. She attended primary school at St. Peters Anglican School, Ogbete, Enugu. She left St. Peters in 1959 to complete her Standard Six Certificate in Omaigwe Primary School in Osumenyi and finished in 1960. Mama was employed to teach in the same school after obtaining a good result. She grew up as a young maiden with a religious discipline and a great wisdom, which endeared her to her heartthrob, Late Nze Alex .O. Ngonadi (husband) and they got married in 1962. This blissful marriage was blessed with seven surviving children, of whom five are females and two males. She was a successful trader who accompanied and supported her husband’s business activities in Aba, Enugu and Lagos. She made her mark, dealing in electronics and building materials in Ogbete, Enugu and Lagos respectively. Mama was later to found Ugochukwu Bakery in Enugu which was popular in producing delicious Confectionaries and Pastries. She was a staunch member of the Anglican Communion, an ardent believer and follower of our Lord Jesus Christ. A member of Nwayo-Bu-Ije group of the Anglican Church in Osumenyi. Mama was the First President of EZIAFA-KA-EGO age grade Osumenyi. She was a member of the prestigious exclusive Women Club, the Ugonwanne Social Club of Nigeria. She was also a dedicated member of Osumenyi Town Assembly (O.T.A). Mama survived a protracted illness and was discharged from UNTH but was later to be re-admitted at the Eastern Medical Centre, Enugu. Though she was previously sent to Dublin, Ireland in Europe twice on a routine check up, But on that beautiful Thursday Evening of the 26th of February, 2009. As the sun was going down, as the night was gradually setting in, so that a glorious morning will come. Mama slept peacefully in the bosom of the Lord, calling out the name of Jesus, whom she lived for and died in. The beauty that radiates from every Chapter of her life is indelible, like the fires of the stars that cannot cease to shine, an endless sunlight. Farewell in the Lords Palace of Victory. ..........And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away-ISAIAH 35-10.
