On July 16, 1985, Michael Santiago Castro was born with a very rare disease called Infantile Myofibromatosis. Mike far outlasted life expectations, graduating at Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 2004. He was honored as Mt. Pleasants Student of the Year (2003) and as Most Inspirational by the Santa Clara County Youth Hall of Fame Salute to Youth (2004). He received a scholarship to go to college studying sports medicine, which was his dream. In his lifetime, he had over 30 major and minor surgeries. He passed away on February 1, 2006, at 7:38am with his family at his bedside in Santa Teresa Kaiser Hospital ICU.

He loved basketball and football, listening to music, watching movies, and hanging out with his brother and sister, Sal and Molly. He loved wearing hats, playing Playstation and going online. Inspirations: God, Tupac, Muhammad Ali, Bruce Lee, Michael Air Jordan, and Christopher Reeves, AKA Superman.
Mike will always have a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. Mikey resided with his father, Salvador R. Castro, Sr., during his last years and is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marylou C. and Arturo Gaspar; his brother, Salvador C. Castro, Jr. and Cannice Chi; his sister, Maligaya C. Castro and Roger Frost; and his grandmother, Patricia Domondon, as well as many aunts, uncles, step-sisters, cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, and his pet leopard-gecko named Corona.
