The former Irish conductor Noel Kelehan died at the age of 76. He is best known as conductor at the Eurovision Song Contest and conducted for five Irish vicotories.
I met Noel back in 2007 for an interview about his career and his Eurovision involvement. He and his lovely wife Mary received me in the true Irish spirit of hospitality. Noel was a very modest man with more than a pinch of that unmistakably Irish sense of humour: a true character and one of the nicest persons I have had the privilege to meet. It was a day I'll treasure for the rest of my life and... it was a wonderful interview.
