Hope Orwick stabbed her daughters Emily (9) and Lindsey (8) to death and then shot herself in the head.
Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White said officers were called to the home by a family member. The call came in just before 7:30 p.m., said police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley.Smiley said family members were still arriving at the scene from different locations late last night.
“We’re talking with them to get a little insight about what happened here,” she said.
Two police chaplains also were on the scene to speak with friends and family who were gathered outside the home. Police cordoned off the yard of the single-story brick home that sits on a block of neatly kept homes, many with large trees in the yards and Halloween decorations on the porches.

Neighbor Mechelle Rockey, 48, said she has lived in a home across the street
from the family for about six months.

“They were the sweetest little girls,” Rockey said. “They were cute as a button.”
