Memories

Mayer Smriti (as we addressed her)

laha_safety May 27, 2012

We grown up together, we both appeared HSE together and even engineering together. She went for diploma in telecommunication and myself diploma in mechanical & electrical engineering. She got service and married. I joined service very late in Mumbai. I have a lot of memories of childhood. Today I will only sharing only two.
At our house, soap bar used to be kept at the base of the wooden bed, Eva my cousin was just learning crawling and whenever she reached the point, she got hold the soap and bite the soap. Maye used to comment that Eva will have fair baby as she is eating soap on regular basis.
During one Diwali myself and maye were burning snake capsules on the seat outside uncle's room, she was using coloured matchstick, when she stuck a matchstick some portion of the head of the matchstick broke away and burning portion struck her left side of the face. She run away inside the house. That injury healed but scar remained.
Another story came to mind, I must say that. A small frog used to stay at our room under a wall. Every night it used to come out to eat insects which were attracted by electric light. I noticed that it throw its tongue to small insect which move. I took one rubber band and rolled it into a small piece and threw it near the frog. When the frog notices it moving it threw its tongue and took the piece inside its mouth. Then it tried out its best to put it out but failed. Maye told that Shyamal you have done a sin, God will punish you if the frog die. To my relief the next day the frog appeared again.

I shall always remember the spirit and strength you sported against all the hardship that came your way.
Living through the pain in your last hours, you were concerned of those you knew you were leaving behind. Bhalo theko.
