Rhys Jones Tribute

I simply gaze at a photograph,
one thats often on tv
your young and smiling face
is looking back at me

i never knew you here on earth,
our paths have never crossed
a life cut short by mindless thugs,
another young life lost

Your mum and dad are aching so,
their eyes are full of tears
you filled their life with happiness
for the past 11 years

go play among the playground
where the angels push the swings
then sit amongst the stars at night
and think of happy things

I hope something gets done this time,
with the violence on the street
before another playmate joins you,
another i didnt meet.

god bless you rhys and your family
my thoughts are with you all
i pray your death is not in vain
but a government wake up call

one day i'll climb those stairs
and sit with you on heavens street
and then i'll smile back at
the young boy i didnt meet.
