My father was an aficionado  of living XL. He carried an air of self-confidence that was magnetic. Men wanted it and women were hypnotized by it. He emigrated from the Philippines 1967. This young half American/half island boy rode the autobahn to success and achieved his dreams of owning his own home and company. He was a generous man and took care of everyone in his inner sphere and even those on the periphery. I remember balmy summer days by the pool and fire pit surrounded by all of his family, neighbors and friends. The stereo pumped the Begees, the cocktails flowed and the tables were like a Pacific Island Cruise ship deck. A buffet of fresh seafood complemented my father’s famous fried rice and lumpia, also known as egg rolls filled the tables. In the evenings, the backyard became a disco and my Dad with his heavy black hair and slick Italian tailored suit danced like John Travolta in “Saturday Night Fever”.
