The man took my breath away from the time I was 14. I am now 72. So many
memories i between, way too many to count. I will never forget the 1st movie I
ever saw with Richard Widmark -Panic in the Streets- from that time on I saw
every one of his movies. Prize of
gold had me dreaming the impossible dream for a long, long time. When I lost
my virginity I pretended it was him. So silly but oh well that;s the way it was.
I used to hate it when the film started and he didn't appear for a while. When it starred Richard Widmark you wanted to see Richard Widmark. no-one els comes near him for acting. God we're going to miss him.
I left school, christmas 1956 and worked as a projectionistat one of the local cinemas. One of the first films I showed was Fox's The Last Wagon,I was hooked .after that I couldn't wait for the old films to turn up on sundays, or for three days during the week.I heard about Mr Widmarks death whilst watching the BAFTA show last sunday and must admit I shed a tear. Goodnight and God bless old friend you will be missed
I recently learned of Mr. Widmark's death. I lived in Hollywood, one of the most unreal places on earth, and while working there for nearly three years, I met a few of " The Bad, the Ugly and the Good " of the movie industry. Much unlike a movie celebrity, Richard Widmark, never became a Hollywood creature - He rose above it. He was exceptional, if not almost flawless in acting, not so much as for his many talents, but for his character and courage for being an original in Hollywood.
I will hold you, Mr. Widmark, in my memories, for your originality in Hollywood where human values are only skin deep.
In 1958, I was only a kid, but that was the first time I saw Richard Widemark in movie. He was
very popular at that time. Almost every week there was a new movie of him advertised.
I have seen many of them and I can say he was the man.
I adored him all these years and I've been asking myself what have happend to my hero.
In my heart I always prayed that I would never wanted to see his end on magasines
But still I'm happy that he lived for such long. I will always love him until my last breath.
I'm joining my prayers and condolences to his loved ones. May he rest in peace and
thanks for his unforgatable performances.
I am in my sixties now and grew up with the movies of Richard Widmark. I remember as
a kid here in Ireland seeing him in a movie called "Red Skies Of Montana" and I've been a fan ever since. A tear was shed when I learned he had passed on.
Who can forget that sniggering laugh?
i fell love with richard widmark when i saw kiss of death he was ruff and sexy and kind of evil but richard widmark maded you feel safe especially in the westerns he was in. he is really cool iam sorry he is gone
I just want to send my condolences to his wife Susan and daughter. From what I read about Richard, he sounded like the most loyal and loving husband and father (like my own father). Susan sounds like a lovely lady and Richard obviously had VERY good taste in wives. His devotion to his first wife is so impressive and Susan sounds just lovely as well. I'm sure his daughter is going to miss her dad a lot and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Cherish the memories of this lovely, lovely man.
Just loved that laugh. I grew up watching his old films and also watched most of his TV work. Very underrated actor. He was right up there with the "big guys"
