About

Card received Oct 28,2002 "MOTHER"

Mother:

You are the greatest gift of my life...

I don't recall the first time you held me or when I first heard your voice.

But from the first moment you held me in your arms, you made the most selfless choice...

you chose to change your busy life so that my life could begin.

You were my Shelter from the rain; on you, I could depend.

You held my hand when I was afraid and helped me to mend my first broken heart.

you bandaged my wounds, wiped my tears, and kept me from falling apart.

You've loved me without question,no matter what I did.

you shaped me into a confident adult from such an awkard kid.

Even though you're not always right beside me,

Your love is matched by no other.

And I thank God each day for his greatest gift.

Making you my mother.

_ Stacey Swayze

Signed:  Love always your Son, Frank J. Gasper

Memories

A soldier becomes a Brother

Robert Pirelli Sep 06, 2011

Frank, I know that my Son Rob found a brother in you. I always think about what you both may have talked about at the outpost, and the valued times you both shared. Now I value all those precious minutes, knowing that now you both are together forever.
Thank You for being a brother and a good friend to my "True American Hero"

My memory

plomolady Sep 05, 2011

Many days have gone by since I heard your voice, or touch your face but your love continues to keep me. I know you died an True American Hero, and that our Nation remembers your sacrifice. Time has a way of passing us by but your memory is so alive in my heart. There are days that I drown in tears and days that I laugh at how you made us laugh. I miss you Frank, but your not forgotten. I have met so many of your comrades that have shared with you how they have so much respect for you. You have building named after you, and your picture is at entrances. What a awesome Soldier, mentor you were and it does not suprise me that you have this kind of tribute because you always went above and beyond for your comrades and made sure you were the best Soldier you could be. Today, I stand proud because of you! I love you very much, your always in my heart. Love you, Mom

Honoring Frank

Steve Flanagan Jun 06, 2011

I didn't know Frank personally in life, but I was on the scene shortly after he was killed and I helped recover his body. It was a sad day. He had a great reputation. I have not forgotten and will not forget him.

Next week I'm leaving to do a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro (highest peak in Africa) and I am dedicating it to our wounded & fallen comrades (http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/climbkilimanjaro/flanagan?fge=ask). I plan to take Frank's photo up to the roof of Africa to honor him (unless you oppose for some reason). I would be interested in taking his dog-tags or other special memento if you (his family) are interested. Please email me to let me know (scf376@mail.harvard.edu). I fly out on 14 Jun 2011. This is the only way I could figure out to get in touch with you...

I am sure Frank is with God now and I hope that you, his family, are all well.

Respectfully,
Steve Flanagan

I came across your tribute because I was looking for the Stacey Swayze poem dedicated to all mums.

However, reading the tributes made to Frank brought tears to my eyes.
