Memories of SSG FRANK GASPER

Your always on my mind

Frank's MOM Oct 19, 2008

You are always on my mind and in my heart! Your bravery, courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. You are truly my HERO!! and Hero of so many. Son, you are missed so much as the days go by, but your in my heart. I think I am being a strong warrior as you were, but honestly I can say that there are days that this warrior is so weak. You have made our family proud to know that you fought a good fight! Your passion to set the oppressed free and your loyalty to your fellow brothers and Country will never be forgotten!! Rest in peace!
We love you and miss you!!!

I as well as many others have been affected in such a positive way just by knowing you. I know that you are with my grandmother and my son now, so I won't say good bye...i will see you again in the right time. Keep your wings of protection around our friends.

My Hero, My Primo, My big bad teddy bear

Marina Sep 05, 2008

Frank was always was a wonderful older primo. Always lookin out and thinkin of others. I was thinkin back the other day about him. I remembered a memory when i was probably about ten years old or so. Frank had come to my house for a lil week vacation. There was one day it was very hot, so the whole famliy decided to go to the local swimming pool This pool was the cities olympic size pool so it was huge. there was tons of people in the water.I used to be so scared of the water cuz it was so deep and me feet were not even close to reachin the bottom. I stayed in the shallow side and Frank stayed right with me. Finally he was itchin to go the deeper side, and i said i wasnt going to go cuz it was like 9ft deep. And what does Frank do, he picks me up and puts me on his back and says ur goin lol. And he carried me on his back hte whole time in the pool and held my hand and said dont worry i wont let go. Then he started jokin sayin that i was good to have around cuz it makes him look sensative to potential girls in the pool LOL. I remember that day so clear, me this lil skinny kid and him being my human lifesaver all day lol.
When Frank left to Iraq the first time, he emailed me and asked me to write him letters. I wrote him a letter everyday . I told him if you get tired of my letters just let me know and ill slow them down. We communicated through email and snail mail. He would send me pictures from over their and i would send him band stickers and he would send me pics of him with them on.
I would tell him bout my potential boy crushes and hed tell me "just let them know you got a big cousin in the army so they better watch out"
There was this time I was goin in for surgery or some kinda stay in the hospital. And Frank actually called me all the way from Iraq, thats a dedicated primo right there.
Frank was a great big protective teddy bear, but if anyone messed with family better watch out.
Frank is a hero and wonderful person that I am proud to say is my familia. He was everything you could ask for in an older Primo.
I love you and miss you dearly.

The Angel

Marina Sep 05, 2008

The day Franks body arrived it all became real to me i remember feelin as if the world had suddenly takin hold of me and made time everything around me spin. On the way to my Tia Annies house we were all in silence in the car. I had my earphones on and i remmber listing to Coldplay " Fix You." When the lyrics"....Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace.." and at that moment mom says look up. And what is there in the sky clear as day. A beautiful angel figure. We pulled the car over and I snapped the photo. It was like a sign from Frank.; that he is still here always watchin over us and that things will be okay.

Remenbering Frank how thoughtful he was

Frank's MOM Aug 21, 2008

I remember when he hooked his front bike wheel to his friend, Tony Nush's wheelchair so he could tote Lit Tony around. He wanted LiL Tony to be able to experience the same things as him. He had LiL Tony over for summer breaks. They ran around, played in corn fields and all made cookies together. One time we took the boys to the river and they rode rafts. Frank put LiL Tony on one and he fell off. Frank jumped in the river to go "Save" Lil Tony! He was so scared. LiL Tony ended up on the side and grabbed a branch!! Then Frank swam over by him. After that LiL Tony told Frank, "Wow, you saved my LIfe". LOL We used to laugh about that! LiL Tony was part of our family. Frank cared alot about LiL Tony. Frank was so thoughtful in making sure that LiL Tony would get to experience the same things as him.

My Memory

Frankie always had a big smile I remember when he was small his silver little teeth made his smile even more unforgetable...I remember just below one of his eyes he had a tiny little birthmark that all but disappeared when he smiled. When he was with us in Madera as a teenager he always helped around the house with the chores...feeding chickens or helping Uncle Ray clean the Garage never complained. We loved Frank already but we really got to know him and love him even more....even then there was something different.. something special about Frank. He and Dan roomed in together I remember they tried to convince us to let them buy baggy pants they tried to tell us that we would save money in the long run because they would grow into them.......LOL Dan and he got pretty close they went to school together, ate lunch together rode the bus home together did homework together....Uncle Ray and I went to see Frankie at his resting place July 25th I gave him a drink of water.....My sister Annie knows what I mean by this. We love Frank very much
I love you Frankie I know you know .

My Son

Frank's MOM Jul 23, 2008

My son Frank, was a very good baby. He slept all night! He just adjusted to any situation in our life. We even took him to the Barn with us as we milked cows. He slept through the whole thing, LOL! Then in growing up he was a good kid, he never complained when it came time to doing things. I even kept him busy with community baseball, school events and we did alot of things for neighbors, and friends. Then his dad became ill, and we moved from Snelling. We went through alot those years. The kids had to spend alot of time being watched by family members while his dad and I were at Stanford. Sometimes we spend a whole month there. The kids went to Tias like Maria, Chela and Gloria. Then his dad died and he had some years of dealing with that. He went through alot of emotinos, ups and downs.(which is what all teenagers go through) But, we worked through that and that's when he lived with several people like Tia Chela & TIo Ray, the lewis family, but he came back eventually to live back at home with us. We all helped him through his teenage years.(HE did pretty darn good especially going through all he did as a teenager) Thanks to all the wonderful people that were there for Frank it has never gone forgotten! I call you his honorary parents. They say it takes a village to raise a child! Well, that village worked together and it looks like we raised a pretty darn good kid! But, then as he went off and married Breanna, they were stationed in Colorado. Well, you know how it is kids are busy with their own life making their own memories. I am so thank ful that when he was there I would go to visit them. I tried to go before he deployed to Iraq to see him off! I am sure glad we made those memories together. I have such good pictures, and videos of the time that we spent together! He was not the kind to boast and tell of all his accomplishements in the Army. He rarely talked about his military accomplishments. He would talk about it if I brought it up but he rarely went into detail. I remember having Cassie his cousin do that Video, for Frank before he went off to Boot Camp set to the song... DID YOU EVER KNOW THAT YOUR MY HERO by Bette Midler. Well, I wonder if we can all say that we feel that today? I know that he will always be my hero along with so many others. But, today I just keep hearing that song play in my head and I wonder if he truly knew just how proud I was of him? I know I told him every chance I got and I probably sent it in e-mail alot, but I wonder if he truly realized it? Well, Frank truly is my HERO!
I love and miss you! My hero!

Please accept my deepest sympathies.
He is in God`s hands now.
I send my prayers to his family.

Your in our thoughts!

Frank's MOM Jul 14, 2008

There are so many people who loved Frank. He is remembered by so many memories, that our heart hold so dearly. I think what I loved most about him was his passion that he had in life! When he believed in something he made it happen. He loved his friends and family the same. You didn't have to be blood to be in his family. He loved serving our Country and believed strongly in what he was doing. Just along with many others who serve along with him. Well, as family, friends and a Nation we Salute SSG Frank Gasper for his sacrifice, and willingness to serve with such HONOR! We miss you but your NEVER FORGOTTEN.
You Made me proud,
MOM
