Memories of Samuel David Coates (Tenny)

I THINK OF YOU EVERYDAY

JOYCE BAILEY Jan 16, 2008

I Thought Of You

I thought of you with love today,
but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday,
and the day befor that too.
I think of you in silence,
I often say your name,
But all I have is memories and
your picture in a frame.

Your memory is my keepsake,
with which I'll never part.
God has you in his keeping,
I have you in my heart.
I shed tears for what might have been,
a million times I've cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
in death I love you still,
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
but you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
the day God took you home.

Tenny died so quickly that we didn't have time to say goodbye

JOYCE BAILEY Jan 16, 2008

You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried
If Love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died
In Life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

For My Dad-from your Daughter Vicki & children

JOYCE BAILEY Jan 16, 2008

Dad, Thank You."

Thank you for the laughter,
For the good times that we share,
Thanks for always listening,
For trying to be fair.

Thank you for your comfort,
When things are going bad,
Thank you for the shoulder,
To cry on when I'm sad.

This poem is a reminder that
All my life through,
I'll be thanking Heaven
For a Special Dad like you."

Our First Meeting

JOYCE BAILEY Jan 16, 2008

Tenny was my first love
and my first husband.
We were married on
July 5, 1966.
I met him while visiting family
members in Newport News Va
He lived next door where
i was staying. He was a very
handsome young man
and I was 16.
We took walks together that
week and i was able
to get to know him better.
I left that Sunday with my
parents and I told my Mom
on the way home he was the
man that i would marry.
this was July 1963
I didn't hear from him for
two and a half years. On
christmas eve in 1965 He
called and we talked for
the next 6 month's.
Easter, He called me and ask me
if i would marry him and
my answer was yes.
It was on a Friday July1, 66
when he came in. We went on
Saturday for blood test and
had to wait 3 days
to get married.
We were married in a church
in Tazewell VA.
Our love lasted 26 years
until he died, I thought my
life was over.
I prayed to die for the first
year.
Little did I know that God
had other plans for my life.

I have had the privilege
of having two men
love me & for me to
love them in my
lifetime
I have been very blessed
to have known them both
