I saw a little blurb in USA today regarding Sandy...I believe that others may feel led to find out more info as well...I hope they will be led here. There is a fundraiser to purchase a grave marker for her resting place on October 18 @ Blue River Memorial Park, Shelbyville, IN. More info can be had by calling 317-341-0419
Thank you!!
Never knew her personally but always watched any program she was on. What a wonderful human being she was! Only wish she had gotten a chance to walk again like she wanted to but in spite of her inability to do so, she still STOOD tall.
We met Sandy several times in Wildwood, New Jersey and also in Niagara Falls, Canada. She was very pleasant and had so much to offer. She was truly inspirational and a reminder that we all have our own unique qualities to share.....make the best of it while you can because life is so short. Rest in peace.
my memory of sandy was when she had been in a wheel chair for a long while and I finally talked her into tring to walk again. When she did she felt great. No she didn't walk really far but she pushed her self to the limit. I loved her for that. Another fond (very fond) memory of sandy was when we went to the second chance prom at the convinsion center in down town indianapolis. We had a wounderful time she really had alot of fun. Thank you for all the memorys. Sadly missed!!
I did not have the pleasure to know her personally, but I wanted to extend my sympathies to the family of someone that clearly was an inspiration to many.
Anyone who had the pleasure of spending any time with Sandy realized that they were with a truly kind and wonderful person. My favorite memory of Sandy is indirect...and I always liked to think that Sandy smiled every time I told this story...and I suspect she is smiling again now. A number of years ago, I was at a local restaurant here in Rocheester, picking up a donation that the owner of the restaurant was giving for a raffle at a Tall Club of Rochester fundraiser for the National Marfan Foundation. Also at the bar was a well known local Rochester comedian. Somehow in the three way conversation, I mentioned that I had met Sandy at the Tall Club International convention the prior summer. In that moment, you would have thought I had told him that I had met Mahatma Ghandi, because he began to gush about having seen Sandy on TV and what an inspirational speaker she was. He made a point of asking me to tell her the impact that she had the next time I saw her. Every time she spoke to children, every time she appeared on TV, every time she wrote, she had a positive impact on the people around her, even those far away. Good bye Sandy...you are missed, but certainly never forgotten.
My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Sandy while visiting Niagra Falls. She was a wonderful lady, friendly beyond measure, who had the ability to make us feel like we were special. God bless you Sandy!
SANDY WAS A KIND AND GENTLE PERSON AND WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL THE LIVES SHE TOUCHED. HER SUFFERING OF THE LAST FEW YEARS IS OVER AND SHE IS IN A FAR BETTER PLACE THEN WE ARE NOW. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE PROGRAMS AND BIOGRAPHIES I COULDN'T WAIT TO WATCH ABOUT HER. A TRUE INSPIRATION TO ALL MANKIND.

A very gentle and caring woman especially for the local children in Shelbyville... Her many visits to the local elementary schools made many lasting impressions on them. May god bless you Sandy..
