About
To Sarah
Corporal Sarah Bryant joined the Army on 21 January 2002 as a member of the Intelligence Corps. On completion of training, she was appointed to 11 MI Sect in Herford Germany, and later served on operations in Iraq before becoming part of 15 (United Kingdom) Psychological Operations Group based in Chicksands, Bedfordshire. She deployed to Afghanistan on 15 March 2008.
Her work in Afghanistan involved monitoring Taleban telephone and walkie-talkie communications. She spoke the local Pashtu language and was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant in the Intelligence Corps. She had done two six-month tours to Iraq.
Sarah was one of four soldiers killed when a roadside bomb tore through their vehicle during an operation near Lashkar Gah, Helmand province, on June 17.
Sarah was given full military honours at Holy Trinity Church in Wetheral, near Carlisle in Cumbria later, the church where she married two years before.
